Gergana Rakovska was elected to the NBCC International Advisory Council in 2013. She has been the director of NBCC Bulgaria since 2007 and has more than five years of experience in the fields of education and labor markets in her native Bulgaria. Her work focuses on credentialing Global Career Development Facilitators (GCDFs) and providing Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) trainings, including the first MHF training held in Europe. Ms. Rakovska is also chair of the Business Foundation for Education, which directs Bulgarian programs related to employment and social policy, vocational education and youth work, and lifelong learning and guidance, among others.;
In 2011, Ms. Rakovska became project manager for the European Board for Certified Counselors (EBCC). Partnering with the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, she has worked to promote career counseling, customer service and educational trainings for more than 1,000 people in Bulgaria's vocational and secondary schools. She has consulted for the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to develop national ratings systems for the field of higher education, labor market initiatives, and a national internship program. Ms. Rakovska also took on the role of Bologna advisor and collaborated with the Ministry of Education's Human Resource Development Center to modernize teacher, researcher and student mobility in the European Higher Education Area.
Ms. Rakovska holds a master's degree in computer science from Sofia University and a master's degree in economics from the University for National and World Economy, both in Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as a certificate in risk management and insurance from Georgia State University, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, and an actuary specialization from the University of Valencia, in Spain. She has traveled throughout Europe, North America and Georgia, and speaks five languages: Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, Spanish and English. In her spare time, Ms. Rakovska enjoys gardening.
