The VIII Counseling Congress of the Americas was celebrated on September 6-8, 2012, in San Isidro Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the participation of an enthusiastic and multidisciplinary audience, which also included a large group of counseling students. The Escuela Humanística Lic. A. Sánchez Bodas (A. Sanchez Bodas Humanistic School) organized and hosted the international event. Representatives from Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Romania, Venezuela and the U.S.A. attended and conducted presentations during the event. The theme of the congress was “Identity and Praxis of Counseling.” Among the sponsors of the congress were the Asociación Argentina de Counseling (Argentinean Counseling Association), A. Sanchez Bodas Humanistic School, and NBCC International.
The organizing team offered a variety of presentations, panels, workshops, round tables, and dissertation discussions for the attendants. Staff from NBCC, NBCC International, the European Board for Certified Counselors (EBCC), and an NBCC Board of Directors member, were invited to conduct presentations on a variety of topics related to the theme of the congress.
The VIII Congress coincided with the 25th anniversary celebration of the counseling profession in Argentina. There were interesting panel discussions on the past, present and future of the counseling profession in the country.
During the congress, Cuba was announced to be the host country for the IX Counseling Congress of the Americas in 2013.[Back] [Previous] [Next]
