The IX Venezuelan Interdisciplinary Counseling Congress was held in the city of San Felipe, Yaracuy state, Venezuela, from July 30 to August 3, 2012. The theme of the congress was “Social Welfare and Environment for a Peaceful and Clean World, Toward the Strengthening of the Counseling Profession in Venezuela.” Among the sponsors of the event were the Federación de Asociaciones Venezolanas de Orientación (Federation of Venezuelan Counseling Associations; FAVO), the Asociación de Orientadores del Estado Yaracuy (Yaracuy State Counseling Association, ASOREY), and NBCC International (NBCC-I).
Attending the IX congress were counselors, educators, students, and professionals from related fields representing many counseling associations, governmental organizations and educational institutions of the country. NBCC-I was also invited to conduct presentations during the congress, joining a diverse group of speakers and workshop leaders that offered insights into different areas of counseling, generating interesting discussions among the participants.
At the closing ceremonies, FAVO recognized a newly certified group of counselors, bringing the number of Venezuelan certified counselors to 39. FAVO emphasized the importance of certification for the professionalization of counseling, and announced the celebration of the X Venezuelan Interdisciplinary Counseling Congress, which will take place in July 22-26, 2013, in Barinas state.[Back] [Previous] [Next]
