The Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán (UPNFM) was the site for the 2012 Guidance and Counseling Conference that took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on May 22-23. This is the first conference of its kind to take place in Honduras. Faculty and staff from the Guidance and Educational Counseling program of UPNFM organized the two-day event, themed “Breaking Barriers and Joining Efforts for the Promotion of Health, Education and Culture,” which offered presentations, round tables and workshops to a large group of students, school counselors and professionals in related fields.
NBCC International, one of the sponsors of the conference, was invited to conduct a presentation on its work around the world. Representatives of North Carolina State University were also among the participants and presenters. Organizers of the conference plan to make this an annual event, to create a constructive time and space for counseling students and professionals to come together and discuss the current state of counseling and to promote the growth of the profession in the country.[Back] [Previous] [Next]
