VII Counseling Congress of the Americas and VIII Venezuelan Interdisciplinary Counseling Congress — November 30-December 2, 2011

The VII Counseling Congress of the Americas and the VIII Venezuelan Interdisciplinary Counseling Congress were held in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. The theme of this joint event was “Challenges in the Versatility of Counseling: Wellbeing, Inclusion, Equity and Social Justice.” An enthusiastic group of approximately 430 counselors, government representatives, multidisciplinary professionals and students attended the event, including representatives from Argentina, Cuba and the United States.

The congress was organized by the Federación de Asociaciones Venezolanas de Orientación (Federation of Venezuelan Counseling Associations; FAVO) and sponsored by La Universidad del Zulia (The University of Zulia; LUZ), la Asociación de Orientadores del Estado Zulia (Zulia State Counseling Association; ASOREZ) and NBCC International. FAVO prepared 10 round tables, each with multiple presentations related to the event’s theme. These themed round tables provided ample discussion opportunities to participants and generated important conclusions that were presented at the end of the congress.

During the closing ceremony, the locations for the VIII and IX Counseling Congress of the Americas were announced as Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Havana, Cuba, respectively.
