NBCC International (NBCC-I) was honored to be invited to attend and present at the Uganda Counselling Association 9th Annual National Counsellors’ Conference, which was held April 10–13, 2013. The conference took place at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and included presentations on culture, career development, health and wellness, immigration, abuse and trauma.
During the conference, Christopher Townsend, NCC, shared a well-received presentation, “The tapestry of family: When trauma and substance abuse changes the pattern.” Mr. Townsend is lead clinician at the Center for Behavioral Health and Wellness at North Carolina A&T State University and a registered Mental Health Facilitator master trainer. He also gave a poster presentation on the Mental Health Facilitator program with Ronald Kaluya, director and founder of Uganda Counseling and Support Services, an MHF-Uganda partner, and NBCC-I staff members.
